UFO sightings

More unexplained lights over Phoenix yesterday.

Why must we always assume they are alien space ships?

Maybe it's the Bolivian priest who disappeard while trying to break a record of flying with balloons....He took off and has not been seen again....

Long,Long Day...

Still so far to go....

It's Tuesday...only 10:30am. Feels like it should be 10:30pm. Just one of those days when everthing happens at once and none of it is good!

I keep hitting the ESCAPE key...But I'm still here.

Red Light Green Light

Red means STOP, green means GO, yellow means GO like Hell!
Not any more. I decided today to change that way of thinking, at least personally. While I was out driving for work I noticed how many drivers try to beat the red light even though they know it had been yellow for some time. Twice, while at a stop light that just turned green, cars continued through on the red. It may have been yellow when they were a block away, but that doesn't count. I have done it, you have done it. But I'm not going to do it anymore. Stop, take that extra 20 seconds. Take time to look around, relax, you really will get to where you are going almost as fast. It's just not important enough to take the chance.

Next time you're out and about, take notice of the action at intersections, and take your time.

Spring comes to Nebraska...Finally!!!

It's a beautiful day here today. Right now, 76 degrees. Sunny, blue skies, the trees are budding, bulbs are blooming. Another couple of days like this and I might just be able to forget the cold, cold snowy winter...maybe.

It is just a tad windy though. But I'll take it. It's hard to feel anything but happy on a day like today.

(This is not our beloved, late Scooter, just a look a like, although not nearly as cute).

What did your son do today?

When I talk to other moms I know and we discuss our children, it's usually the same old stuff...but today I can say My son did this!

News from Guam

Bede Jr. emailed from Guam today with lots of awesome photos. He just returned from a mission and all went well. I wanted to share with all of you his pictures and I will try to keep everyone updated on news and events in our most exciting life. (Read that with a great deal of sarcasm). Bede Jr. did call this week to let us know he will deploy to Kirkuk, Iraq in Nov. of this year. He will be a flight instructor. training the Iraqi Air Force. It will be a year long deployment. He is excited about it. He asked to go. I am pleased for him and extremely proud. But as his mother...well that's a different story. Keep him in your prayers, please.

Joanna just had her wisdom teeth extracted last Friday. I returned to my "mother" role and went to KC to help her out. All went well and she is doing fine. I took a video of her with my phone post op as she was coming out of the anesthesia. Fortunately for her it wasn't saved. So the memory of her telling me the same story at least 6 times will have to remain only in my head... It had something to do with her shoes and how much the dentist liked them... Of course her mouth was stuffed with gauze at the time as well, so her words were slurred and hard to distinguish, but that didn't keep her from talking. She felt well enough the next day to do a little shopping.
Enjoy the photos from Guam. I will try to keep this post updated often.

Dog sitting..

We have been taking care of Rufus, our son's dog while Bede Jr is deployed for a few months. Rufus found Bede Jr. and adopted him just before Thanksgiving last year. Rufus is a yellow lab, probably about 2 years old. Rufus is a good dog, with a sweet disposition, as most labs are. But Rufus is BIG, has unlimited energy, and loves to chew. The first day we had him home I went to the pet shop and bought $30.00 of chew toys and rawhide bones. I figured that would last for the few months we will have him. Rufus destroyed most of the toys that first afternoon, and the rest the following day. We learned quickly there are chew toys and there are chewed up toys. We have since found a few new toys that are "impossible" to destroy, or so says the packaging. He is doing his best to prove them wrong.
Wednesday morning he and I had it out. I was almost ready for work and running a little late, when I discovered Rufus had found a container of sweet and sour sauce left out from dinner the night before. He had decided to eat it on my dining room rug. RED,RED,RED, red sauce everywhere! So there am I on my hands and knees scrubbing the carpet,Rufus in my face, because of course he thinks I am playing some great game. Needless to say I wasn't in a game playing state of mind. Lola, our parrot, thought all the yelling was fun to and decided to join in. Rufus barking, Lola screeching, me yelling...what a zoo! I threw the dog in his kennel, locked the bird in her cage and went off to the peace and quiet of work.
The best part of the story is the best part of pet ownership. when I got home that evening, Rufus met me with a big wet kiss, Lola hollered out "Hello, Pretty Girl". They didn't remember the craziness of the morning, (although the pink tinge on the carpet reminded me). They were happy to see me. They are always happy to see me...to see anyone. Gotta love it!
